Pre-Cyclone Cleanup

The annual pre-cyclone clean up is approaching, what do you need to do to get prepared?


Each year the Darwin City Council provide a free cleanup service for all Darwin residents to help get prepared for cyclone season. It gives residents the opportunity to clean up and have items removed that could potentially become dangerous in the event of a cyclone.


For the cleanup to run smoothly, the council has divided Darwin into two different zones, zone 1 and zone 2 (see zone inclusions below). Please ensure you place your items in a responsible way and keep the footpaths clear. See the image below to check what items will be collected. 


Zone 1 includes:

  • Jingili

  • Karama

  • Leanyer

  • Lyons

  • Malak

  • Marrara

  • Moil

Items that will not be collected:

  • garden refuse

  • liquids

  • paints

  • asbestos

  • car parts / bodies / tyres / engines

  • car batteries

  • glass or mirrors

  • food waste


If you are a senior or a resident with mobility limitations you can request assistance to remove items from the property, contact the City of Darwin before the 11th of September 2020 if you require assistance (08 8930 0300)
